STEVE L.MALSAM

Steve Malsam began his real estate career in 1986 with Centron, the largest multi-family builder in the Northwest at the time. Beginning in land acquisition, Steve moved to project finance and governmental relations before being named Vice President, opening Centron’s first office in Oregon in 1988. In the next two years, he was responsible for closing more than $40 million in construction financing to build over 700 units.

After four years on his own, Polygon Group, Ltd., of Vancouver, B.C, hired Steve to develop multi-family housing in the Puget Sound area. In 1994, Polygon recorded $235 million in sales. On Polygon’s behalf, Steve created Madison Homes, Inc., and was responsible for all aspects of the development process, including acquisition, governmental approval, product design, construction and marketing. In eighteen months, he put together three separate townhome developments, a 169-unit project in Bellevue, a 106-unit project in Kirkland, and a 221-unit project in the Bothell-Woodinville area.

From that achievement, in 1996 Steve partnered with James L Evans to start Wakefield, a real estate development company. Together the partners have enjoyed a great deal of success in developing several large residential, business, and mixed-use projects all over the Pacific Northwest.

Steve has guided Wakefield’s development of over $300 million of multifamily, retail, office, and lifestyle centers. Steve’s desire to develop properties, which invigorate communities and focus on social cohesion was recognized with a 20/20 Vision Award for collaboration with the City of Mill Creek on the development of Mill Creek Town Center.
